Where Raphael is the better choice
Start here. If these describe your use, you do not need an alternative, and you should not pay for one.
Draft volume costs nothing
If you want to throw away fifty images to find one, a free basic mode with no sign-in is hard to beat. ZeroTwo’s Free plan limits image generations, and its paid plans meter them in credits.
No account
Open the site, type, generate. Nothing to set up before the first image.
One-click tools
Raphael lists a background remover, an upscaler, image expand and a watermark remover as their own tools. For those single jobs it is the shorter path.
A wide model list, and video
Raphael’s FAQ lists the Nano Banana family, GPT Image 2 and several Seedream versions for images, plus video models such as Seedance, Veo 3.1 and Kling. Its list changes often, so check it before you rely on a specific model.
Where ZeroTwo fits, and the catch for each

ZeroTwo puts image generation next to chat, projects and memory, so the brief, the revision requests and the copy that goes with the image can live in one thread. Which of those you get depends on your plan.
The catch: Free has limited projects and memories. Raphael is simpler if all you need is the image.

ZeroTwo’s image page describes uploading a photo, saying what to change and iterating in chat until it is right.
The catch: Raphael’s single-purpose tools may be quicker for one-click jobs like removing a background.
A different model mix.
ZeroTwo’s model catalog lists Flux Pro, Flux Pro 2, Imagen 4, GPT Image 1.5, Qwen Image, Grok 2 Image and the Nano Banana models. It does not list Seedream or GPT Image 2, which Raphael does.
The catch: Whether a model gives you a better image for your prompt is something to test. This page ranks no outputs.
Terms you can read before you commit.
ZeroTwo’s Terms say you keep ownership of your Input and Output as the law permits, and that ZeroTwo assigns any rights in Output to you. The underlying model providers’ terms can also apply.

Allowance is metered.
Paid plans give a monthly credit allowance, and Free limits image generations. How many credits one image costs is shown in the app, so this page quotes no per-image price.
The catch: Raphael describes its basic mode as unlimited. ZeroTwo’s image generation is not.
Which image models each one lists
Both list Nano Banana models, so the overlap is bigger than you might expect. The difference is in the rest of the list. A model being listed says nothing about how good it is for your prompt.

Ground rules
- Use the same prompt text in both tools, word for word.
- Judge the first usable result of up to three attempts, not the best of twenty.
- Record the model, the settings, the seconds per attempt and the credits or queue time.
- Have someone who did not run the test pick the winner without knowing which tool made which image.
- Check the output licence for the use you have in mind before you rely on either tool.

Many people will. Draft widely in the free tool, then rebuild the keepers where you can choose the model, edit by chat and keep the brief with the image. Just confirm that the model you want is available in the second tool and that the licence fits the final use.
